From Smart Urban Forests to Edible Cities: New Approaches in Urban Planning and Design

In recent years, the pressing environmental, social, and economic problems affecting cities have resulted in integration of disciplines landscape architecture urban forestry via a transdisciplinary approach to planning design. Now, new approaches concepts emerged for more sustainable city planning. The discipline is using different methods address many issues such as human well-being also food security. But, research on these topics still limited not available world. To fill this gap, we present thematic issue “From Smart Urban Forests Edible Cities: New Approaches Planning Design.” findings from offer insight policymakers practitioners, well contribute emerging literature edible forest cities. Furthermore, spanning geographies can be used towards achieving 2030 Agenda Sustainable Development Goals making settlements resilient, inclusive, safe, sustainable, ending hunger, security, improving nutrition. However, further studies are needed, especially developing countries Global South.
